Lightbulb- I said fluorescant. I don't really see why one would work and the others wouldn't. Queue- I said 800. Whatever area of science/mathematics this is supposed to measure, I have no idea. (Seriously, tell me.) Last one- A lightbulb that powers itself would be interesting. -------------------- We're all amazed but not amused By all the things that you said you'd do. quote:If you pay attention, you may notice that FP misspelled "fluorescent". You misspelled it too, but in a different way. You have failed. Oh, and for the third question, "Chemicals are bad for you" is the right answer. Admittedly, everything's made of chemicals, but there isn't one that's not bad for you under the right circumstances, such as if a truckload of it falls on your head. Of the other two options, one's wrong and the other's silly. Well...I didn't vote, but: Q1: Light bulb - probably fluorescent Q2: I don't queue 80/125/800 - WTH Q3: Sky ints (what does this mean?) - Well, the only answer which could be true is: the universe is getting hotter although this cannot be proven at the present point of time. The other two are truly STUPID! BTW are there supposed to be so many spelling mistakes? EDIT: Na Thuryl. The closest thing that I can make of I don't qeue is 'IQ'. To which the only non-stupid answer available would be 125. 800 is impossible, 80 is darn dumb. Other than that, this seems a sanity test rather than an intelligence one. We all failed. Or so it would seem. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! Chemicals are bad for you? No, but it's probably not such a bad idea to avoid inhaling it. -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Er, good point. Not such a good idea to inhale it in liquid form, then.

Actually, pure H2O is bad for you. When you drink water, your body uses impurities in it to regulate how much your cells absorb. If you drink a lot of pure H2O, too many of your cells will burst and you may even die. Like the man says, under the right circumstances... -E- -------------------- Let them eat cake! Oh. Liquid form. Well, when you said inhale, I thought as a gas. Inhaling liquids is bad for you in any case, no matter what the liquid. -------------------- "And all should cry, Beware, Beware! Things would go very badly for your eyes in a 100% oxygen environment. You know, oxygen is a corrosive. A powerful one. A human's very breathing is not only causing them to live, but also to die. -------------------- The great light bulb converses its thoughts in a fashion most particular to its complicated nature. Apparently oxygen is too reactive for us to breathe 100% of it. That's why we have so much nitrogen in the atmosphere. quote:Your assumption for Q3 is false. The universe is expanding but only has so much energy in it, thus guaranteeing that the universe is in fact getting colder. I took the second choice, because I was assuming that the question was objective. Whoops. (A choice along the lines of "all chemicals can be bad for you" would have tripped less people up.) And actually, it would be feasible to make a lightbulb that powers itself after you get it lit once, although you would need those funky solar energy receptors on every surface that catches the light from the bulb in order to get enough energy back to continue the reaction. (The receptors would need to be in a cube-shape to get this done, though.) But allowing a few holes would make for a much more energy efficient bulb. -------------------- We're all amazed but not amused By all the things that you said you'd do. The problem is that even if you could make a 100% efficient energy conversion of light to light, it'll only be efficient as long as other things (such as your eyes) don't get in the way of the light. Which makes it pretty useless for seeing by. -------------------- I believe there are 15 747 724 136 275 002 577 105 653 961 181 555 468 044 717 914 527 116 709 366 231 425 076 185 631 031 296 protons in the universe, and the same number of electrons. -- Sir Arthur Eddington Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

...hence my saying that you wouldn't be able to see out of it. But it would still be neat. And hey, you could make a lamp that at least partially re-uses its own power. It would certainly be energy-efficient. -------------------- We're all amazed but not amused By all the things that you said you'd do. "The universe is getting hotter" is an invalid assertion. First of all, are we talking average temperature or total heat? If we're talking the former, TM's very probably right -- the rate of expansion of the universe probably outpaces the increase in entropy. But, assuming the universe is a closed system (assumed but unproven), the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics would mean the total heat of the universe is ever-increasing (entropic reactions are also generally exothermic). I worded the first question wrong. The brightest lights are arc lights, but they are not light bulbs. but flourescents (i didn't mean to spell it wrong in the question, sorry) aren't really light bulbs either. Q2 IQ: 80 is a pretty smart moron, 125 is a pretty smart genius and 800 is the stupid answer. Q3 science (mispronounciated). The universe is always getting hotter is the answer that I intended to be correct, but it is indeed a gray area. (to say that the heat of all possible space-time is increasing would probably be more acurate, but I wouldn't bet on it.) everything is made of chemicals, so this is a stupid answer. A light that powers itself would indeed be cool, but unfortunately useless. this also is a stupid answer. so I guess I score about 65% on making an intelligence testing poll. Didn't you say a solar-powered lamp that powers itself though?
