If you have any need for more Win Testers, I should have some spare time around now (I've been getting really bored lately), so it would give me something to do.

Email adress -:- archmagusmicael@gmail.com
experience in testing -:- Um, not apart from lousy alphaing.
what are the main things you look at when testing -:- Spelling and general bugs.
gender -:- IMAGE(http://www.access.avernus.com/~glenn/Tuesday.gif)
the OS you will use to test -:- WinXP
BoA Testing Centre Name -:- Micael

So just drop me a line if you need any more testers. A ZIP or RAR file would be best, but I've got stuffit on the other PC, so I can always read those nasty .SITs.

But wouldn't that be just plain old magic, as they're magical constructs. It would just use the essnge from the mage/thing that turned them into ghosts/shades. I'd assume that would weaken the spell holding them together (which is why they stop every now and then).

I always imagined Essence as some kind of inner power which everything has, sort of liek the mitochlorians (or however they're spelt) in Star Wars. Every living thing has it, but only a few individuals (namely the Jedi) are lucky enough to be born with it in abundance.

I'm tempted to email JV and ask, but I don't really want my idea to be smashed by him.

Perhaps this is what happens with the Shapers? After all, not everyone is cut out to be a Shaper.

It's nicer not to get attacked by two Hakaii and 7 demons to start with, but I have to agree with you. I think that real-time should be kept woth RTS and FPS, not RPG.

And after my original short-comings about Avernum 4, I must say that I bought it after a day or two, so it's not that bad.

Question 3: Disease in General
Agent
Member # 4506

:D

While we can all say that stopping disease is very good and all, and that it can be done, albeit with difficulty, some of us have to wonder whether you should stop the disease. If there was a worldwide pandemic it would do wonders for population control.

However, as I don't think anyone wants this soon, we do need to get a way of destroyng diseases quicker than we already have.

I also have to disagree with saying that we are better equipped to deal with diseases than in the Middle Ages. Back then the diseases were also simple things, these days they have evolved along with us to be immune to all the various drugs etc that we use. I mean, we've never been able to get rid of the common cold - have we?

How about if the rebels found a way to remove the block the Shapers made and enable serviles to shape, but they're really bad at it. Would you then be just somewhat irked?

As time has progressed, creations have attained the ability to edit themselves (starting with drakons) to build on/undo what the Shapers started with. This is both part of the solution and part of the problem.

- Jeff Vogel

Does this mean we'll be having Servile shapers in GF4?

Glad you enjoyed the game. ;)

I found the recharge annoying, but quite frankly no-one expected great things from Avernum 4. This game was the "engine-tweaker". Avernum 5 is meant to be polished. The monster AI while stupid did manage to get archers to hammer at me properly though, maybe it's just you. The weight is fine by me, as it's good enough.

The AP system of the previous Avernum's was FAR better, but I think that it'll get better as you get used to it.

Turrets = Annoying. Simple as that. Don't expect anything more from them.

The golems were the game's real challenge I think. In Tinraya and then later Rentar's keep, it was all just brute force needed. And by that time you had plenty of it. The golems were by far the most enjoyable of the plagues.

But then again, I've won both Exile 3 and Avernum 3, and every time I defeated every plague before entering Tinraya.

I hope this will attract a few of you, as RPing with this few people isn't much fun.

As Me. said, yes you can. It isn't until really late on that it matters what you do. Until then, just keep conversations neutral and you'll be fine for either side.

Also, the above link is for BoE, so don't look for Co-ordinates in your game. It should get you through the game though.

And the real reason I posted this... -:- "Welcome to the Boards, leave your sanity at the door, etc etc."

I wouldn't say that it was the Avernum's "Superior graphics" that make me play Avernum. I honestly prefer E3 and BoE's. But I play Avernums etc now, because they run best on the computers, and I've never been able to "grasp" Exile 1. I guess I'm too young for that, and need a little bit of high-tech :P . Exile 2 I played, but then it stopped working a long time ago, so I just played the Avernums bottom-up. Nethergate's also a great game, though I've never registered it. Honestly I'd wait for the updated version before checking it out, but yes, it's a good game.

I think the best game out by general consensus is Avernum 2, which has the best storyline, and doesn't feel ridiculously repeated hack'n'slash.

The Geneforges were good in the beginning (GF1), but have gradualy gotten worse from there. However, I think we all, me at least, have great hopes for GF4. You may want to check out Geneforge 1, and play it, but you might not want to play the other two, as they're just repeats of each-other.

I don't know about the RW games, but I must say that Homeland is classified as a computer virus, so don't download it. It not only damages your PC but also gives you significant mental problems.

Hmm. I had the editor do something similar once when a graphic was whacked. When I fixed the graphics, it fixed itself. Dunno why, but it did. Oddly enough, I've never been able to reproduce the error (not that I've wanted to).

Okay then: rephrase it:

What we need to do is ensure that our resources are spread out to those that need them, rather than to the over-weight Americans and British and other people in the world which waste all of the food resources, and other natural resources. Starving people should get first priority, not whether you live in one country or another.

P.S. I am not insulting Americans or British in general (I live in england so hey). I am merely using them as an example.
