I hate poodles and chihuahuas. I don't know why I just can't stand them. But, I like german shephards and golden retrievers.

Oozing Blade with runed amethyst-- extra acid effect is my favorite in the game. It doesn't do the most damage, but it is cool.

Having no sympathy for Ms. Smith, I wish the regular media would go away, and she would get a final homage in Mad magazine. The media coverage is pure poison.

Your missing out on some truly awful films still. Try Killer Clowns From Outer Space, it is truly bad and sometimes downright funny in a horribly cruel way. Morons From Outer Space is also sometimes called one of the worst British films ever made. Both are worth watching if you like really bad films with slapstick humor.

David Weber has a new book, Off Armageddon Reef. This book is published by Tor so it has a different style than the earlier Baen Honor Harrington series. I think the writing is better with more thought in it. Earth has been destroyed by the Gbaba, a secret colony world has been established with low technology and a medieval religious mind set so they can avoid Gbaba detection. A hero arises from the first colonists, an android who is there to bring back technology. A good read so far. I think the writing has improved considerably.

Yay, two stars, only one more star to go. :D

I am reading a cross between a hard boiled crime novel and a vampire novel. Charlie Huston, No Dominion. I read his earlier novel Already Dead. Nothing like a really solid mix of crime and detective novel where the main character is a hard boiled vampire named Joe Pitt. This novel is set in New York city with fairly accurate descriptions of the locales. Also it has different vampire territories the Hood, the Enclave, The Society, the Coalition, and some No Man's land territory. The writing style is clean, and the dialogue style is different but very well done. Lots of one liners and plenty of action.

For $200 you can buy an anti-tank rocket launcher in Vietnam, I wonder how much it costs in Iraq $150. Maybe, someone will wake up and stop exporting parts for tanks and fighter planes to our supposed friends. I am more worried about the fuzzy arms trade than the nukes right now. That is what is killing our troops, Soviet and Chinese RPGs, high explosives, etc.

I am rather amazed that people think that there is any privacy on a publicly viewable site. Being truly paranoid, I believe there is no such thing as privacy over any electronic medium telephone, computer, internet and act accordingly.

The main concern I have is that my information is not collected for the purpose of spam and commercial exploitation, I could care less if someone is viewing what I am saying over an electronic medium. I do care if someone can exploit my email easily from a site to send me commercial garbage, but that is about it.

In Geneforge 5 we get to get past the Turabi gates into inner shaper lands. In Geneforge 6 we get to first finish Terrestria, then go back to Sucia for the final showdown... The map would be massive over 100 sections... enough to drive Jeff mad.

I am reading The Wizard of the Crow by Ngugi Wa Thiong'o. The literary quality and readability of this book is excellent. It is on par with Borges or Italo Calvino, entertaining and extremely well written. It is set in the mythical African dictatorship of Aburiria, a mythical place controlled by the crazed Ruler, who has different ministers, I rather like that one of the ministers has giant ears, and the other has giant eyes and they hate each other. The book is full of absurdist and often comical ideas about politics. For example people stand in huge lines to give bribes to get contracts for Marching to Heaven a national program sponsored by the Ruler and the Global Bank. Most people can't get a job unless they pay huge bribes, even the educated wander around begging. Some of the action occurs in the Mars Cafe where the propietor is completely obsessed with space travel. The book is huge 768 pages long, but so far it is enjoyable.

Maybe you will become powerful enough to decide what happens in the end. Trakovite, Shaper, Rebel, or You as the number one faction. It would be very cool if you could become powerful enough to take over in the end pushing aside the rebels and shapers.

I just finished a novel by Tyler Knox called Kockroach. It is about a cockroach that turns into a man then through a combination of greed, violence, fear, and lust rises first through the criminal underworld, then through business, and finally becomes a US senator in the end. It starts out in Times Square of the 1950s I think. I rather liked it, in a sort of grim way.

The other novel I am just starting is Ines of My Soul by Elizabeth Allende, a writer who I like very much. It is a novel set in the world of Pizarro. So far it has been quite interesting.

I finished it, it covers the conquest of Chile, especially the fight between the Mapoche and the Conquistadors.

I don't want to see Rebel or Shaper victory, I want to see Khryk raise a child of one of the Geneforged-- it would be cool to show that geneforging is inheritable to lead his/her armies in the destruction of the rebels and the shapers.

What would be cool is that you wouldn't look like one of the glow in the dark mad canisters users but would probably be just as powerful.

It would have been better that he was resurrected somehow or wasn't quite killed. It would be cool if in Geneforge 5 Khryk talks about being left for dead and being brought back from the brink of death... or something similar. He is wandering trying to figure out what to do. Maybe the next time Khryk is killed it should say... as the final blow lands Khryk disappears in a flash of light you poke at the empty robes where Khryk was supposed to be...

The Shaper boots are nice, so is The Talisman of Might. I put together a nice little suit that has Legs of the Tyrant, Talisman of Might, Gloves of Savagery, Shaper Boots, and the Cloak of the Shadows by the end of the game.

I am cooking up two different types of WMDs currently. One is a anti-gravitophotonic wave generator which will increase gravity to 20x normal in a perfect 5 mile sphere. I have already ended up crushing two laboratories to thin paste by accident.

The other is an especially crazy concoction of genetically engineered bacterium which eat metal, plastic, carbon based products, asphalt, oil, and various building materials. This is to be combined with a variety of super weeds and plants. The goal is to turn a city into a rotted out jungle in a weeks time.

I just finished reading:

Natural Capitalism: Creating The Next Industrial Revolution by Paul Hawken, Amory Lovins, and L. Hunter Lovins.

This was a very substantive book with a lot in it. It took a long time to read because there was literally no filler. It covered a wide area from the Rocky Mountain Institute to smart cars, green architecture, industrial ecology, natural water treatment (it talked about living machines-- John Todd's work), science and biomimicry, advanced organic farming, green economics, remanufacturing, molecular disassembly of products so they can be reused. A lot of very green technology. It is worth reading if you are interested in green industrialism.

Trying to explain how some things work in science fiction is really dumb sometimes. You have to think compared to many science fiction technologies we would be primitive, how do you explain how a jet engine works to an aborigine who has never seen technology without making an awful lot of euphemistic mistakes.

The trakovites only have a problem with shaping not magic. Khryk seems to be able to do some pretty incredible things with magic. He can project a shade of himself and break magical bonds with ease. I think he can also teleport short distances in Geneforge 3. In other words he is an unkillable character. I bet if you kill him after you leave a golem will come out and carry him to a secret vat where he will be resurrected. After all he died horribly in the last game. The Trakovites seem to be really really good with magic and mechanics. Drewry has an unopenable door. They also have some really philosophical viewpoints, in other words, they might become enlightened or something like that which may let them walk on water and do all sorts of crazy things.

Plus they are being persecuted which makes them very attractive. People love becoming martyrs. Drewry could become the first true Trakovite martyr. Maybe we will get to see the Shapers putting Trakovites in pits where they get eaten by Fyoras. Trakovites could cause "Rome" to fall undermining the Rebels and Shapers completely.
