I can just see all those seasoned Boarders out there, who have time and time again b1tch-slapped every hooligan who's thought they've single handedly come up with the brilliant idea of Avernum Online (how super cool!!1!), and started their own little conquest to get it to happen, thinking "sigh, I'm not even going to bother this time".

Seriously, there needs to be some sort of FRICKING HUGE LIST of reasons compiled as to why "Avernum" Online (and I use inverted commas in a sneering, sarcastic manner, cause it'd be EXILE Online, if anything), will never happen, PERIOD.

Give up, and go devote your life to something useful - like floor buffing.

Edit: Damn! A seasoned Boarder got in just before me! And he's being nice too! Well, there goes my argument...

Alright, alright! :P

The EV Bible Annotated Edition... It was the nonsense Burch first hacked out with a whole stack of slighly more legible comments, tips, tricks, etc.

Drakefyre is probably a good person to approach on design type stuff, he certainly pushes for the "motive" aspect of a scenario - ie. WHY are you there and WHY is that Evil Acolyte trying to subvert the town.

Perhaps if a giant list of "Aspects to Designing Scenarios" could be compiled, things could be submitted to it and revised, commented on, etc by others. Large topics like Town Design could be broken into smaller aspects.

I dunno, hell, I haven't even double-clicked on the Editor yet (damn uni), so I'm not exactly in any position to make judgements.

I don't know what it is with Australians and Football (the kind played with a round ball). We just don't seem to like it, well, the bulk of us anyway. Maybe it's because we don't have a team in the world cup - I reckon if we did, it'd generate some viewers.

I used to play it when I was younger, and it's a sick game - I think it's just that there's not enough goals scored for what we're used to. Maybe if they like DOUBLED the width of the goals. Hehehehe.

I would've thought publishing a "How to use the BoA Editor" book/reference guide would be a better source of moolah. I know that there is existing documentation, but if it was presented in a manner that you could either just have sent to you, or download print out and bind, then hell, wouldn't that want to rock?

Maybe we should set about making our own? Pester top-knotch designers for their tips and tricks, write up tutorials on actual design - not just *how* to use the Editor, but how to use it well. TM's always getting ancy about town design (read his review of Babysitting), maybe he'd like to write a section?

I'm thinking kind of along the lines of the EV Bible, remember it?

We should start a tar-ball campaign to get it so everything's in .tgz format. It's fast, it's tame; it's got a pretty sick name - tarball! TAAAARBALL!

I'm running Stuffit Deluxe 8.0.2 so I guess it's probably the current version. Works fine with it.

Free tertiary education is by far one of the most radical social changes imparted by any government of Australia - I just wish the follow-on Liberal government could've had the foresight to realise the solid benefits it offers.

I agree with Kyna wholeheartedly on the subject. Dammit, I've spent hours arguing with economics students *both* sides of the topic, just to try and work out the fiscal feasibility of it.

You have to realise prem, that the "other scheme" of paying for our education is *not* paying for it. What Kyna is suggesting (and what Whitlam KNEW, back in '73) is that by allowing a larger number of students access to a better education by removing the financial burden is by far and away more beneficial to the country than scamming a few dollars out of poor students in the short term.

That's one of the big problems with centre-right governments, they only think in the short term. How happy was John Howard when he was able to announce a budget surplus? How long until there's no more Telstras left to sell? Young people need incentives in Australia to get educated, and dammit, making it free is a good enough one for me.

The ALP's Knowledge Nation proposal was probably one of the most ingenious bits of policy ever, and although it was defeated at Conference, the "Earning or Learning" ideology is a continuation of it, of sorts.

I damn well hope Latham gets up in the next election, cause I don't think I've ever met a man with more stable ideological views than him. That, and he's crazy.

Oh yeah, and the wine was a Brookland Valley Merlot and a Vasse Felix Shiraz. I really wanted a Twin Rivers 94 Malbec, but I guess I'll leave that till next time.

Heh, this is pretty funny. I've never thought there was any question about whether it was safe or not to use your credit card to buy games from software companies over the net.

The fact that this forum even exists is proof enought Spiderweb isn't a sham company. Hell, you're more likely to get ripped off by a crack-smoking shark with a bazooka than you are by Jeff and his minions (although I hear one of them actually IS a crack-smoking, bazooka wielding shark).

Anyway, buy away; you have nothing to fear from the Vogellians.

Ahh! Thanks Kyna, I'd always wondered how (and if; I guess) they alligned it to inflation. Your CentreLink knowledge is much appreciated.

Cheers for the link too, I've already passed it on to a few of my friends. It suprises me how little information is distributed in High School on just what HECS is, and if any other feasible options exist.

Handy scholarship money came through! Just bought a stack of food and my two bottles of Margaret River wine arrived. It's indulgin' time!

So the States has a HECS type thing to? HECS in Australia is like defering your uni tuition fees until you have a job, etc, and then they deduct it from your pay (depending on how much you earn).

People consider HECS to be EVIL, but it has an upside - the loan is interest free, yay. It's still evil though. Back in '73-'75 Gough Whitlam made uni here FREE. How sick is that? Man, wish I'd done uni then...

EDIT: Typo...

Sigh. Whinge session again. I hate being a poor uni student, sometimes I think I should defer for a semester and see just exactly what it is that I'm not missing (ie, working).

I get paid like $400 on tuesday, but just about all that goes to either rent or food - or beer. Thank god it's my b'day on the 22nd so I can go out and get hammered on 2-for-1 student deals. I also get a $50 bar tab just about anywhere. Brisbane rocks.

I wonder if I have any food left... *Wanders off looking for sustenance*.

Oh, and yeah, I live in Brisbane, but I'm originally from north-coast NSW, so all this damn AFL is giving me the irrits. People in Brisbane have only started liking AFL better than NRL cause they actually have a smei-decent team - although I hear my flatmate's team from WA beat them last night. Very amusing. Actually, I don't know why I like NRL more, AFL is an more interesting game. It appears to actually have some stratergy too, unlike the NRL run-until-some-guy-stops-me tactic. Meh.
